Praying For Ukraine

As the snowflakes have begun falling over the ice storm we got last night, my heart is heavy.

I can’t stop thinking about all the innocent people in the Ukraine, whose lives have been upended, especially my son’s friend. He and his Dad moved from the Ukraine to the US last year and his Mom and sister are still there. I have been praying non stop for them and all the families affected by this senseless war. I think we all feel so helpless just watching all those horror unfold and wishing we could help in some way.

I just can’t imagine packing a go bag with only a few essentials not knowing if your home will still be there later. Not knowing where you are going but trying to escape danger. It’s truly unimaginable and my heart goes out to everyone there.

So I took my camera outside and captured some of the ice and snow we currently have. I finally came in because my fingertips were numb and frozen. It took awhile to get feeling back in them, but I was thankful I had a warm home to come back inside.

I did some research online of a few organizations that could use our support to help the people of Ukraine in this crisis.

UNICEF
Statement from Executive Director Catherine M. Russell says – “Heavy weapons fire along the line has already damaged critical water infrastructure and education facilities”

MSP/Doctors Without Borders runs a range of activities in the Ukraine working with local volunteers, organizations, health care professionals and authorities to heath care facilities and access prescribed medications.

Voices of Children-helps provide psychological and psychosocial support to children affected by armed conflict.

Sunflower of Peace-This nonprofit organization is raising money to prepare first aid medical tactical backpacks for paramedics and doctors on the front lines.

International Committee of the Red Cross-The Switzerland based organization is aiming to help people affected by the conflict and support the work of the Ukrainian Red Cross.

Save the Children-base in London, helps to deliver lifesaving aid to vulnerable children in Ukraine and around the world.

UN Refugee Agency-aims to provide emergency assistance to families in Ukraine-providing aid such as cash assistance and opportunities for resettlement in the US.

Praying for peace and an end to this.
